Early Times Report
BARAMULLA, Apr 1: Chinar Corps Lt Gen Satish Dua Friday said that they were apprehending increase in infiltration attempts in days to come but stressed that Army was ready to foil the attempts. He made this statement at Baramulla where he inaugurated Skill Development Centre -- Chinar 9 Youth Club -- in the premises of brigade headquarters of 19 infantry division. He said the centre would open new avenues for the local youth, besides providing them platform for fun and learning. "Our youth are our future and we want to leave no stone unturned in guiding them towards development and want to provide them opportunity to adopt peaceful atmosphere as they are the leaders of tomorrow," Lt Gen Dua said. He said 70 such clubs would be set up by army in various areas of the valley with an intention to provide opportunities for upgradation of skills of the valley youth. He said computer training, fashion designing, counseling for online applications and preparations for competitive exams were the main attraction of the institute, besides gymnasium, martial art and library facilities. He said, "We want to create employment opportunities for our youth. We have opened many clubs at Ananthnag, Pattan and Chowkibal and in other valley areas." Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function, he said there were miscreants who wanted the youth to indulge in anti-social activities. He, however, said there was no lack of talent in Kashmir. When asked that there was an increase in infiltration, he said that snow had begun to melt on the high altitudes and there was a chance of increase in infiltration from across the border, but army was ready to crush militants. There were nearly 200 active militants in the valley but their morale was very low as in recent past all top militant commanders were eliminated in the valley, he said and added forces were maintaining a tight vigil on the borders. |
