Early Times Report
Poonch, Apr 1: Bills worth crores were withdrawn on last day of this financial year on Thursday. Sources said the last day of March was very significant for the people who had undertaken various developmental works in this frontier district for which bills worth crores were withdrawn from the state exchequer while as the fact remains only paper work was upto the mark and on ground level no work was done sources added. As far as Public Works Department is concerned, various vital roads including Mendhar to Surankote road via Harni have developed patches and potholes and are in shambles since years. Despite contractors withdrawing lakhs of rupees nothing has been done on the ground. Sources alleged that these contractors are hand in glove with the department officials. Several government buildings were repaired in the district for various works which still are incomplete sources said, adding the other roads buildings continue to be in shambles despite contractors withdrawing hefty amounts. In other departments, including CAPD, PDD, PHE, situation is no different where bills worth lakhs were withdrawn on the last days of the financial year, sources said. The Chairman Mendhar Youth Chib, Nadeem Ahmed Khan has appealed the District Development Commissioner M H Malik to initiate action against the departments which failed to complete the development works under various schemes in the district and released crores of rupees for non-existent works. |
