JAMMU, Apr 01: Following the denial of pre-arrest bail to them by second additional sessions judge M K Sharma, Amarnath Choudhary and his wife Mohini Devi, who are accused of tricking and defrauding people by not giving them possession of properties at Royal Palms here against the money they have already charged from them, have gone underground and had not been traced out by police till late tonight.
Soon after the court denied them bail, crime branch (CB) sleuths carried out series of raids on their possible hideouts, but had not found any clue to their whereabouts till late tonight, according to CB sources.
Denying bail to them, the court observed that they had defrauded and cheated the investors and builder - M/s Riddhi Siddhi Infra Projects Pvt Ltd.
Earlier, Amarnath's counsel tried to prove himself innocent, but the court found all his arguments as 'unreasonable'. The accused claimed that the case was of civil nature and CB was trying to frame him. He also submitted that the mall was not complete.
The court said it was a big economic offence and Amarnath Chowdhary and other accused could temper with the facts and evidence related to the case.
The investors termed the denial of pre-arrest bail to the accused by the court as 'victory of truth over falsehood'.
They also could not find their son Radhey Shyam Choudhary, alleged to be a partner in the business. Tomorrow, there would be a hearing in the court on bail petitions of Radhey Shyam and his accountant Kaka Ram.
