Forest Deptt clears encroachments, retrieves 4 Kanals of land

Jammu, Apr 1 : The Forest Department sleuths today conducted anti encroachment drive to remove encroachment from Forest land in Roop Nagar near Aap Shambu Temple and retrieved about 04 Kanal of forest land worth lakhs from the clutches of encroachers.
According to official spokesperson, the operation was conducted under the supervision of Dr V S Senthil Kumar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jammu.
"The forest team headed by Varinder Singh Range Officer Jammu and Kailash Choudhary Block Officer Paloura Block escorted with police team from Police Station Janipur successfully removed the RCC Plinth laid on forest land in Comptt.3/P Roop Nagar Near Aap Shambu Temple by one Ranga of Roop Nagar. "During the operation about 40 feet RCC Plinth constructed by encroacher was demolished, he said and added that doping so the enforcement wing has retrieved about 04 Kanal of forest land worth lakhs from the clutches of encroacher. Pertinent to mention that formal communication request has been sent to police to lodge FIR against encroacher Ranga R/o Roop Nagar by Range Officer Jammu. Meanwhile Dr V S Senthil Kumar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jammu talking to media said that the Forest Department is taking measures to prevent encroachment on Forest Land and the encroachers will not be spared at any cost.
In another incident, some miscreants having vested interest over the forest land had damaged the newly erected fence post in Keran area during the intervening night of March 31 and April 1. "They had damaged 85 Poles of Forest Department and caused loss to government exchequer and Range Officer Jammu had requested Station House Officer Domana for registering FIR for damage to Public property and violation of Forest Act, spokesperson said.
A team of forest officials headed by Dr Senthil, IFS, Division Forest Officer Jammu had inspected the spot and gave instruction to field staff to investigate the incident and to submit factual report.
The Forest Offence Report (FOR) for violation of Section 6 of J&K Forest Act has also been registered. The Chief Conservator of Forests Roshan Jaggi, IFS and Conservator of Forests B M Sharma, IFS had appreciated for forest staff of Jammu Forest Division.
