Rajouri, Apr 1 : Despite above average rains in the Pir Panjal Mountain ranges and in the plains , inhabitants of Rajouri district have been facing acute shortage of safe drinking water.

Inhabitants of Danidhar ( one of the Rajouri Municipality ward) situated on the road leads to BGSB University have been struggling for the last many months to get regular supply of safe drinking water.

Similar resentment has also been expressed by the inhabitants Deeng, Gagrot, Kalal and Seri villages in Nowshera tehsil.
Yash Pal and Balwant Singh, both Panchyat members said that for the last many days the Casual Workers of the PHE department have been protesting in favour of their demands and are on strike.
"Due to their strike the water supply to our areas have been affected badly and the department should appoint regular employees so that the people may not suffer any more" said the protesters.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) has assured the people to take up the matter with senior PHE officials for early restoration of water supply.
Despite sufficient natural resources of water the inhabitants of Darhal valley facing shortage of safe drinking water due to ongoing strike by the daily wagers and casual labourers of the PHE department.
