Chandigarh, Apr 1 : A week long Educational Tour of Post Graduate (M.Sc and Ph.D) students was organized by faculty of basic sciences, SKUAST-Jammu to visit state of art facilities in top most science Institutions of Chandigarh. The students visited Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH.) and Basic Science PG Departments of Punjab University. The students were shown Plant Tissue Culture Collection, Microbial Type Culture Collection, Biochemical Engineering Research, Proceess Development Centre, Pharmaceutical Heritage Centre, Technology Development Centre, Central Instrumentation Unit, besides various biological laboratories viz., Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Bio informatics and Mass Array. They also interacted with esteemed faculty members and scientists specialized in different streams including Dr. Arvind, Dr. Garry Bedi, Dr. Sonawar, Dr Kalpana. The students got desired exposure and first hand information regarding the advance research activities going on in these premier Institutes of research. Under the supervision of Dr. R.K. Gupta, Dean Faculty of Basic Sciences, SKUAST-J the students were accompanied by I/c Tour Programme Dr. Vikas Sharma and Dr. Upma Dutta. The students who participated in the tour were Arti Heer, Deepika Sharma, Harminder Kour, Deepika Khajuria, Navneet Kour, Anshela Koul, Ekta Rani, Sakshi Bhagat, Samreeti, Sonam, Anshu Vali and others. |
