PAF concerned over dilapidated condition of Kishtwar-Batote NH | Newspaper circulation badly hit in region | |
Early Times Report kishtwar, Apr 1: President public Awareness Front Kishtwar Shakir Hussain Saddiqui today expressed great resentment and anguish over the dilapidated condition of 110 KM Kishtwar-Batote Highway and demanded its immediate restoration without any further delay. While talking to "Early Times" Shakir Siddiqui said that there is immediate need for construction of Singpora-Viloo tunnel as there are apprehension of collapsing of Kishtwar-Batote National Highway due its continuous sinking at many places. He said that Kishtwar-Batote NH is considered as the life line for the more than 7 lac people of Chenab valley and added that before it was too late, the 5 KM long tunnel will be the alternative road connectivity to Kishtwar and Doda District via Srinagar. He said that the construction of the tunnel will benefit local people in many ways and will give employment to the locals, will reduce length of over 100 KM. "Government of India has sanctioned approximately Rs. 400 Cr at the initial stage for the construction of the tunnel, but after that the actual status of the project is not known" said Siddiqui. The vendors informed the "Early Times" that newspaper circulation has been hit badly due to poor roads as vehicles carrying newspaper failed to reach destinations. |
