Report gathers dust in Home Department | Promotion issue | | Sumit Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 25: The Police officers of 1999 KPS batch are unhappy and exasperated as their promotion has been long due. The charm of joining elite police force has faded as they have realized that they are lagging far behind their counterparts who had opted for KAS. While the KAS batch of 1999 has reached at the pay band of 8600, the KPS batch of 1999 is still at the pay band of 6600. Further, though the High Court had asked government to promote the 1999 batch in the year 2011 within two months but till date this batch has got nothing but assurances only. It was after representation to the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed by the said batch, a committee for seniority of DySP after 2007 was constituted under the supervision of a top Police official. The committee gave its report within one and a half month to the Home Department. Though there is set rule for police promotion, yet the Home Department send the file to the law department to clear the plea of leave reserve and deputation reserve. It was during Governor's rule recently it was made clear that leave reserve and deputation reserve could not be used for the promotion. The report was finally sent to the screening committee comprising of Chief Secretary, Secretary (Home) and DGP, but the same was deferred due to unknown reason. The said file at present is eating dust in the Home Department. |
