HC stays closure of brick kilns at Kathua, Samba | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 4: High court judge Tashi Rabstan today directed that the state pollution control board (SPCB) order as regards the closure of 45 brick kilns in Kathua and Samba districts would remain stayed. The court directive came in a petition filed by the brick kiln owners, challenging the order of SPCB regional director whereby he had ordered the closure of their units. After hearing the petitioners' counsels, Justice Rabstan issued notice to state which was aceepted by the deputy AG. He granted a week's time to file response and ordered that subject to objections from other side and til next date before the bench, the impugned notices regarding closure of brick kilns would remain stayed. The counsels submitted that the petitioners had been running their brick kilns in Kathua and Samba areas for the last more than 30-40 years. -(JNF) |
