'Jinxed' govt school in Srinagar leaves students, teachers restless

SRINAGAR, May 4: A government school in old Srinagar has proven out to be jinxed with eight female students becoming first target of the ghost.
According to students of girls high school Reiteng which has an adjacent hostel for the Gujjar and Bakarwal girls, the hostel building is under the influence of the ghost and has taken serious toll on the psyche of students.
A group of students informed this reporter on Wednesday that last week some of the girls started screaming unnecessarily all of a sudden and some even attacked the other students causing serious damages to body parts. "The girls also bit their lips and tongue so badly that blood started oozing out from their mouth," the students claimed.
One of the students while recalling the episode said that the whole thing started on last Sunday at 6 pm when girls came into the room after sitting under a Chinar tree.
She said that the three girls started screaming and behaving strangely. "The same continued throughout the whole night due to which none of the girls could sleep.On the other night another three girls started doing the same," they said.
They added that they informed the hostel authorities and they called the families of the victim girls who were then taken to their homes.
The girls said that on Wednesday another three girls started screaming and beating each other. "It is a panic situation here. We are very afraid and are going through sleepless nights," said one the student.
When ET contacted Director Schools Education Kashmir Shah fasal, he said that he is aware about the situation. "Yes, we have heard about the incident. I am going to visit the school tomorrow".
DC Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone said that "we will monitor the situation and if the need arises then we will think of shifting the students and teachers from the school."
