Nation the only stakeholder in J&K: Hari Om | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 4: Rejecting outrightly the oft-repeated sinister suggestion that there are "internal and external stakeholders" in J&K, convener of Jammu for India (JFI) Prof Hari Om on Wednesday said that those who have been advocating this pernicious view are actually working for the second communal partition of India. "Another communal partition of India is utterly unacceptable to the nation. We are not a banana republic. We are a sovereign state and its geo-political and sovereign interests have to be protected and promoted further at any cost, even at the cost of a full-scale war," he stated. "The Indian nation is the only stakeholder in J&K," said Prof Hari Om, adding that the people of Jammu province and other integrationists in the state are committed to defeating communalists and subversives who are hell-bent to convert J&K into a religious state and help Pakistan achieve what it shamelessly calls the "unfinished agenda of partition". "We will not allow anyone in Kashmir and New Delhi to subvert the Indian sovereignty and undo all that the nation did in Kashmir during all these years of the state's lawful accession with India to integrate it into the national mainstream after making supreme sacrifices," said JFI convener. He asserted that people of Jammu province are a factor to reckon with and they have to be recognized as such whatever separatists in Kashmir and the authorities in Delhi may think of them. To ignore them or to try to impose the atrocious will of Kashmiri leaders on them would be only to create a situation the nation witnessed in Jammu region in 1952-53, 1966-67, 1984, 1998, 2008, 2010-11 and 2015, said Prof Hari Om, adding that the people of Jammu province are ideologically not half-baked and that they know how to tackle the enemies of the nation. "Pakistan is not a stakeholder in J&K; it is an aggressor and disturber of peace in J&K and other parts of India. It has no locus standi in J&K. Similarly, seditionists like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik are no stakeholders in J&K; they are enemies of humanity and Indian State. They are all ardent believers in the concept of theocratic and intolerant regime and their single-point agenda is to exterminate minorities. The JFI also considers PDP, NC and Congress as B-teams of seditionists. It is unfortunate that "nationalist" BJP abandoned its ideology to stitch alliance with PDP, which was founded in 1999 with the stated objective that it will work for "supra-state measures" or shared sovereignty, porous borders, self-rule or quasi-independence, Indo-Pak joint-management, economic independence, Islamic banking and demilitarization, Prof Hari Om further said. The JFI convener urged the authorities in New Delhi to review its policy towards the restive Kashmir Valley, Jammu and Kashmir as a state and Pakistan taking into consideration the nation's paramount geo-political, sovereign and economic interests. He said the JFI has not appreciated the BJP's U-turn on Hurriyat Conference and added that it would further complicate the already rather complex situation in the Valley. |
