Girl traces hit-and-run accused, ironically police fail to arrest him | Janipur hit 'n' run case | | Jammu, May 4: A young girl today identified and caught hold of an absconding person and handed him over to Janipur police as the accused allegedly had hit his car with her father, wounding him critically at Main Chowk in Janipur. Pertinently, police had failed to arrest the absconding person for last 15 days. As per the family members, their young daughter raised alarm and ran towards a car in Janipur (near Government quarters) after she identified the person and his Alto car (JK02BB-1648) which had hit her father few weeks back wounding him critically on January 13. Though the accident victim has been recovering, the family alleged that they had visited police station Janipur to enquiry about the investigation whether the accused person has been arrested or his vehicle has been seized or not but to their surprise police have utterly failed to trace either of two. "We were told that investigation is in progress and the absconding person would be arrested soon," the victim family alleged. "Today she identified the person who allegedly had hit her father (Ashwani Kohli) and raised alarm seeking help from the people who responded her call and surrounded the vehicle making easy task for her to get the absconding person arrested," the aggrieved family said. They said that soon police team also reached their and they took him and the car to the police station and the vehicle of the absconding person was seized. Meanwhile, SHO Janipur confirmed that they have arrested the hit-and-run accused and his vehicle has also been seized, though he did not disclose name of the arrested person. |
