Transport department goes tough against violators | 9 driving licenses suspended, four vehicle seized in Kishtwar | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Jammu, May 4: Assistant Regional Transport Officer Kishtwar today cancelled the driving licenses of nine drivers for violating the traffic and other norms despite repeated warnings to them. As per the details available with "Early Times" the driving licenses of 9 drivers plying on different routes of mountainous District Kishtwar were today suspended by the ARTO under section 19 of Motor Vehicle Act for six months while driving licenses of 19 other drivers are in process of cancellation/ suspension as the license holders are not following the traffic norms. Four vehicles were also seized by the department for violating traffic norms including over loading, beside more than Rs. 14000 were recovered as fine from the violators. While talking to "Early Times" ARTO Kishtwar confirmed the cancellation of driving licenses of nine drivers for six months added that the accused persons were found guilty of violating various traffic norms and were found involved in over loading as well. He said that more licenses will be suspended in coming days. He said that in order to prevent the day to day accidents and to control over loading, rash and negligent driving, the department has decided to go tough against traffic violators. He said that at first instance the driving licenses were suspended for six months and said that in case the violators did not stop violating traffic norms in future, there driving licenses will permanently be cancelled. The local people hailed the strict action taken by the ARTO Kishtwar against the habitual traffic violators. |
