CCI president calls on NIT director | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, May 6: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) president Rakesh Gupta today paid a visit to NIT, Srinagar, and called upon its director Rajat Gupta. He discussed the recent unpleasant happenings that took place at the NIT campus. All the aspects were thoroughly discussed and CCI felt that after initial flaws in handling situation when it started, the administration had done quite a bit to satisfy the concern of the students and also giving them a sense of security. Rakesh asked the director to form a students' council so that in case of any problem in future, it could immediately take up the issue with the administration. The director told the CCI president that the students had reposed full faith in the faculty of Srinagar NIT and not opted for assessments by externals. Rakesh told him that the hostel accommodation was not sufficient for students and new hostel blocks should be constructed to make the stay of the students comfortable. The director in this context said that they had already applied for permission for renovation and additional constructions. On this, the CCI president assured him to take up the matter of construction within the NIT Campus with the government and get it expedited at the earliest.
