Gen Bakshi denounces BJP's U-turn on Hurriyat | Policy of destruction | | Early Times Report jammu, May 6: Former Major General GD Bakshi, who originally hails from PoJK and served in the state for many years, is one of the few concerned Indians who without mincing words denounces New Delhi's foreign policy vis-à-vis Pakistan and also tears into the present dispensation saying its Kashmir policy is highly flawed and dangerous and has all the potential of driving J&K out of India. India would suffer a grievous injury and Kashmir will go out of India in case the present dispensation doesn't change its policy towards J&K and Pakistan, he says, and adds that the nation was very happy when Narendra Modi took over as the Prime Minister, which is not the case today, as his government's policies have not been inspiring. "I am sorry to say that this government has disappointed the nation by following a weak policy," he says day-in-and day out. General Bakshi's latest attack is on the BJP Government's U-turn on Pakistan-backed and funded Hurriyat Conference. "What is this Hurriyat and who are they?, he asked. "The government must not recognize these anti-nationals, who do not represent the people," he said while attacking the BJP's changed stand on Hurriyat Conference. He batted for a policy that shows Pakistan its rightful place and brings the Hurriyat leaders to justice and he also attacked the government for its mishandling of Kashmir. It bears recalling that MoS for External Affairs Gen VK Singh had last week told the Parliament that Hurriyat leaders were Indian nationals and as Indian nationals they could meet anyone belonging to any country. What Gen VK Singh told the Parliament was a complete U-turn in the sense that hitherto the stated position of the Modi Government was that India will not talk to Pakistan if it flirted with Hurriyat leaders or the vice-versa. In fact, the Modi Government cancelled talks with Pakistan twice for the same reason. Narendra Modi Government would do well to appreciate Gen Bakshi and others like him and adopt a pro-active policy towards Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists. For, what Gen Bakshi says is what the nation actually vouches for. |
