Locals allege low quality materials being used for 'black topping' | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report Poonch, May 18: Some quarters have alleged that sub standard material is being used for block topping the 21 kilometer long Mendhar-Surankote road while the authorities concerned have assured action if any foul play is found during monitoring of the said constriction project. Some locals said that the contract of black topping of road from Mendhar to Surankote has been given to Maqsud Ahmed who has completed the 6 Kms of road upto Harni in which substandard material has been used. They added even seat-coat after the black topping too has not been done. "Despite tender amount of Rs 1.90 Cr for this project was flagged," locals said, adding, "authorities should have monitored the construction work to see how the work is going on. Locals also have alleged that technical staff including one Assistant Engineer (AE) one Junior Engineer (JE) besides a Supervisor were having hand in glove with the contractor and their monitoring only was aimed to appease the contractor only. When contacted AEE-PWD Sub Division Mendhar Imtiaz Mir told Early Times that he personally will monitor the black topping work of the said road and assured if any laxity will be found the guilty shall be liable to face action according to law. |
