Separatists' 'united show' turns flop | Malik, Mirwaiz launch veiled attack at each other | | Early Times Report srinagar, May 18: Despite making rigorous attempts to put united face and iron out the differences, the separatists once again in public were found involved in verbal dual- castigating the policies and approach of each other. On Wednesday, Chairman Huriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq chaired a function at Hurriyat'sRajbagh office to commemorate the death anniversaries of Abdul Gani Lone and Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq. Besides other separatist leaders, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yasin Malik too ensured his presence. The scenes were witnessed after a long time that separatists exhibited a united face, making journalists to write catchy headlines for the sudden re-union. But what surprised all was the individual speech of these separatists during which they castigated each other out in open. While Malik termed elections as 'farce and futile', he made a veiled attack at Mirwaiz who has been pitching for talks between Delhi and the separatists. Malik in his speech said it was very futile to initiate any peace process with the present government led by Narendra Modi led government. "There is no one who is listening to you at New Delhi presently, so there is no need to stress for any dialogue process," said Malik. Malik's statement came at a time when the Huriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar was in open advocating talks with the Government of India. While underscoring the need for the dialogue process, Mirwaiz has been appealing the central dispensation to initiate a meaningful dialogue with the separatists. Malik's speech had a veiled attack against policies and stand of Mirwaiz. He has in open rejected any offer of talks, putting the entire separatist camp in tight spot. On the other hand Mirwaiz, in his presidential address, didn't even mutter a single word that Malik said. He didn't even mentioned talks in his speech, rather, subtly he advocated peoples' participation in elections. Mirwaiz in his speech pitched that elections should be distanced from the policies of the separatist leaders. Mirwiaz said even if 100 percent voting takes place in the elections in Jammu and Kashmir that can't change the fate of the people. This again goes contrary to What Malik and Geelani has been asking for. Malik during the earlier held polls launched a massive poll boycott campaign and asked people to stay away from taking part in elections. Meanwhile, the attempt by Mirwaiz and Malik to put up a united face eventually becomes a flop show. The differences between the separatists once again came to fore, unmasking before the people where the policies of these trouble mongers are taking them to. With both leaders taking jibes at each other, the participants of the function were left in a fix over what to speak and for whom. As usual, the show ended with the vote of thanks from the stage in-charge. |
