Teenager succumbs to injuries, people protest in Doda | | | Early Times Report
Bhaderwah (Doda), May 24: A 18-year-old boy today succumbed to his injuries in Jammu following an accident, prompting villagers to hold a protest against the civil and police administration. The victim was traveling on rooftop of mini passenger vehicle when on a sharp curve, he lost his balance and fell on the road near Kahie village on Kahara-Tanta road in district Doda yesterday. The victim, identified as Arshad Ahmed Harga (18) was seriously injured after he fell from the speeding vehicle, initially he was shifted to a district hospital at Doda and later was airlifted to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital at Jammu. The deceased teenager was pursuing Maulana course at Dara-ul-Aloom Deoband in Uttar Pradesh and had come home for annual vacations. Meanwhile, the villagers today held a protest against the civil and Police administration at Kahara after they came to know that the injured youth succumbed to his injuries at Jammu. Protesters were demanding immediate arrest of the erring driver and stern action against traffic violators, who put the lives of the passengers on risk by overloading. Meanwhile, police has registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the absconding driver. "We have registered a case under various sections of Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) at Police Station Gandoh. The vehicle has also been seized," Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gandoh, Bhushan Kumar Ganjo, said. "The absconding driver has been reportedly apprehended by the locals at village Jawala Pur, I have sent a team from police station Gandoh to arrest the driver," the Officer added. |
