Cong, NC demand probe, family allege killing by army men | Mystery shrouds over disappearance of youth in Kishtwar | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishwtar, May 24: As mystery shrouds around the disappearance of local youth (27) Abdul Wahid Gujjar of Hungana Mulchatar of Kishtwar District who went missing since May 21, the family members alleged involvement of army in this killing while District unit of Congress and National Conference have demanded thorough probe in this missing. According to local reports, a local youth (27) Abdul Wahid Gujjar s/o Gafoor Gujjar of Hungana-Mulchatar Mughalmaidan of Kishtwar district went missing since 21/5/2016 and is untraced till today. The youth got disappeared after he left his home to invite the relatives for the marriage ceremony of his paternal cousin brother and did not return back home since then. Talking to "Early Times" the family members and locals alleged that Abdul Wahid was killed by the army who also claim some locals had heard firing in the area before he (Abdul Wahid) disappeared. Family members have demanded registration of FIR against the army. When contacted Sandeep Kumar Wazir, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar told that police is investigating the case on all possible angles added that guilty whosoever will be punished in accordance to law. "Keeping in view of the gravity of the case, a team comprising Additional SP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom, DySP (Hqrs) Kishtwar Touseef Ahmed and SHO Police Station Chatroo has visited the area and even the spot where locals claimed the youth was killed and thrown into rivulet, he added. He added "if there were any witness, same will be cross examined to ascertain the facts under investigations." Meanwhile he added local army unit had informed the police that no patrol party was in the area when the incident claims to have taken place. Meanwhile Congress Party MLA from Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori and National Conference District Secretary Kishtwar Shabir Ahmed Kamal today demanded an inquiry into the mysterious disappearance of the youth. PRO Defence when contacted said that they have no information about this incident and hence refuse to make any comment on the issue. |
