NET/SLET candidates get 4 marks for M Phil, PhDs get nothing | | | Akshay Azad
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education department's recruitment rules for the posts of Assistant Professors in Government Degree Colleges are reportedly dubious in nature as NET/SLET holders have been getting four points for M.Phil degree while Ph.D holders, having separate M.Phil degree are getting no marks for same degree, virtually pushing them at margin. According to the recent lists published in JKPSC, many of the Ph.D holder candidates have found no place in the short listing, due to the alleged dubious criteria adopted by JKPSC. "As per the short listing criteria adopted by JKPSC, the NET/SLET and Ph.D is eligibility for the AP post. 90 marks are to PG course, 4 marks for M.phil and 6 marks for Ph.D holders. Though Ph.D and NET/SLET is an eligibility but the NET/SLET candidates, who have M.phil degree in their credit are getting four marks in short-listing while as the Ph.D holders, who have separate M.phil degrees are getting no marks for same degree. The M.Phil degree of Ph.D holders is clubbed in the Ph.D but it is seperate", the candidates, who were out from the lists, informed. They further said that more than two dozen candidates had found no place in the short listing for a single subject, leaving them running helter-skelter. It is very much strange that as per the recruitment rules in Universities and as per University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, the Ph.d holder candidates, who have separate M.Phil degrees are getting marks for M.Phil, despite Ph.d as eligibility criteria and the NET/SLET candidates also get equal marks for M.Phil, an applicant said. "Today we called on Chairman, JKPSC and apprised him about the issue. From the discussion with the Chairman, it has been transpired that there is fault in the recruitment rules forwarded by Higher Education department", an applicant said. They further alleged that it seemed that recruitment rules have been framed by Higher Education department without the application of mind and taking into consideration the UGC rules. The officials of JKPSC and Higher Education department were not available for comments. |
