Early Times Report
Mendhar, May 24: Apprehending insecurity in the locality, the Naka Manjhari residents today expressed serious concern over hanging of electricity wires with trees in villages and said that concerned Power Development Department (PDD) is least concerned over security concerns of people of said locality in district Poonch. Accusing the Power Development Department (PDD) of putting the lives of residents in danger by not aligning the electricity transmission lines on the electric poles, the people of Naka Manjhari have alleged that wires let to hang upon trees which can make people prone to electrocution during rainy days. "The department has failed to install the electric poles and the transmission lines can be seen hanging from the tree branches," the residents said, adding the transmission lines were lying very low to the ground thus posing a severe danger to the lives of people of the area." Local also alleged when Government is spending Crore of Rupees in Poonch to strengthen and upgrade the power transmission and distribution system which also includes the replacement of wooden poles by cement poles why the concerned department still has not bothered to install new poles instead of conventional pattern of laying wires along wooden poles and trees. And infact the situation at Naka Manjhari Upper And Lower village belies the government claims the locals said. Local resident made repeated requests to the PDD officials seeking alignment of transmission lines on the electric poles but they alleged that their pleas have fallen to deaf ears till date. The residents also complained that the electric wires were broken at various places in the Naka Manjhari villages. |
