rajouri, May 24: members of particular community and organizations today staged a protest against the police for its failure to stop alleged encroachment of a grave yard situated in W-9 near Talabwali Masjid in Rajouri. Protestors also staged a 'sit in' Dharna inside the Police Post situated at old Rajouri town while demanding to lodge First Information Report (FIR) against the encroacher who, according to protesters, have also damaged few graves during digging work. Moulvi Farooq, Mushtaq Dar and other prominent Muslim leaders alleged that despite their repeated requests during last few months to senior police officers and district administration, no action has been taken against the encroacher till today. "There seems to be a nexus between the encroaches & local politicians, police and revenue officials as the encroachment was not stopped by them despite several complaints" said a Muslim leader. A written complaint was also handed over to the police post in-charge by the protesters who also offered Namaz-e-Magrib inside the police post. Meanwhile local Police have claimed that it has stopped the construction work at the disputed site. At the time of filing this report the protest was in progress. |
