Amarnath yatra: Pratham pooja at Chandanwari on 'Jyesht Purnima' | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 20: A Pratham Pooja was today organised on the auspicious occasion of Jyesht Purnima at Chandanwari on traditional Pahalgam route for the smooth conduct of the 48-day long yatra, commencing from July 2, to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalaya. An official spokesperson here said Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) P K Tripathi performed Pratham Pooja on the auspicious occasion of Jyesht Purnima at Chandanwari, amidst chanting of Vedic Mantras to invoke the blessings of Amarnath for the smooth conduct of the ensuing Amarnath yatra. The Shrine Board has been organising Pratham Pooja on the auspicious occasion of Jyesht Purnima every year to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva for the peaceful conduct of the annual Yatra. The CEO inspected the on-going works at the Access Control Gate at Chandanwari and the Exit Gate which is being constructed ahead of the glacier towards Pissutop.He also directed the officers of Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) and Tourism Department to expedite the work on the upgradtion of the track on the entire Pahalgam Axis and erection of the Shelter Sheds and ensure the timely repair of all damaged infrastructure. The CEO inspected the Nunwan Base Camp and reviewed the arrangements being made for the safe and comfortable stay of the Yatris. The CEO also asked the Engineers, and officers of all the concerned Government Departments and agencies to work on war footing to put in place all required arrangements at all Yatra Camps on this route by June 30, 2016, at least two days before the date on which the annual Yatra is scheduled to commence |
