VC ignores Syndicate observations, effects rotational directorship in DDE | | | Raj Sandeep Early Times Report JAMMU, June 20: The Vice Chancellor of Jammu University who was reportedly snubbed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for obstructing student politics in the campus has once again defied the established norms and resolutions of Academic Council and University Syndicate while effecting rotational directorship of Directorate of Distance Education (DDE). The sources told that Vice Chancellor had cleverly got the agenda of rotational directorship included in Academic Council and University Syndicate which was spurned and rejected outrightly refusing approval of the item. Instead the members asked the University to go for interview to select candidate for the post of Director in DDE as the same was an administrative position and the post stands already advertised. But, the Vice Chancellor instead of paying heed to the decision of the statutory bodies of the University went ahead to effect rotational directorship just to establish his hegemony flouting the principles of justice and discouraging moves to bring in capable and competent persons. Sources said that reign of manipulations and conspiracies is supreme and ruling the roast in University of Jammu these days unabated as the Vice Chancellor is effecting the change though he himself claims to be a very honest and genuine person free from all prejudices. "The decision of VC regarding Rotational Directorship in Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) is a classical example of dictatorship and deviation from established norms by replacing Prof V.D Singh and subsequent appointment of VC's favourite Prof Dhian Singh Bhau as new Director DDE under rotational directorship ,sources added. Sources disclosed that the matter of rotational directorship was taken up in Syndicate (109th meeting) under Agenda Item No: 109.37. The disgruntled Vice Chancellor was unaware of the fact that this matter was taken up in University Council meeting held in the year 2012 (73rd Council) which was toppled with one stroke of pen. This time again the matter was taken up in University Syndicate and again met with the same fate. The sources revealed that the Financial Advisor categorically asked the University administration to fill up the post as per University norms so as to settle the matter once for all landing which led the incumbent Vice Chancellor in a state of great embarrassment and humiliation being a raw hand in the field of administration and administering justice. The Vice Chancellor, who expects students to follow norms and rules of the University is himself overlooking the decisions of the University top bodies to effect changes as per his own wishes. The sources added that government has taken the cognizance of the matter. |
