| Bhagat's remarks leave Lal Singh angry, infuriated | | SWC meeting | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 20: State Working Committee meeting became a platform for show of one up manship between two senior BJP ministers on Sunday, with one bloating about the performances of the ministry he currently holds leaving his predecessor bitterly angry over former's 'inflated' claims and not giving any credit to him. Health Minister Bali Bhagat painted an 'all well and on recovery path' picture of his departments including the hospitals and attributed it all to his own efforts. This infuriated Choudhary Lal Singh, ex Health Minister and made him angry saying Bhagat 'sang everything in his own praise' and did not bother to give him any credits for the works done during last year.
Sources said as the State Working Committee had asked the ministers of the party to drop in to say few words about their ministries during the day long session at party office, the ministers' presentation saw some bitterness between Bali Bhagat and Lal Singh even though former chose to leave soon after he spoke about his Health ministry. This gesture of leaving soon after making his 'big talk' left Lal Singh annoyed more for the fact that he wanted him to listen to his version about the Health Ministry of which he held the charge for nearly one year, sources said.
Sources said from ambulances to free medicines, district level new hospitals and, discipline and strictness having been enforced among the staff, cleanliness scenario having drastically improved in the hospitals, Bali Bhagat spoke it all about his ministry which he is holding for the last two months. He left the Working Committee soon on the pretext that he had to attend some other important meeting. While Forest Minister Lal Singh listened to all what his successor said in his progress report, what followed next only exhibited not just the differences between the two but also reflected the fact that Lal Singh is still unhappy about change of his earlier portfolio, that is Health ministry, sources said.
It was now Lal Singh's turn when he spew out his anger and bitterness contending that whatever claims Bhagat made and the picture he presented about his department were not out of his efforts, instead the hard work and consistent efforts he (Lal Singh) made during his tenure as Health Minister. I order to drive home his point Lal, sources said Lal amid interruptions from the leaders on the stage said the 'success report' Bhagat presented was not possible in a period of one and a half month of his being at the helm of Health Ministry. Sources further said that Bhagat's 'presentation' without mention of Lal Singh made the latter so angry that he asserted it repeatedly he had nothing to say about his current ministry and that he doesn't do anything. While Lal was speaking sarcastically and on a bitter note, sources said he also drew applause from the audience, nearly 200 members, which he took as endorsement of what he stated. |
