Non-availability of atta, sugar decried 6/20/2016 11:48:25 PM Early times Report RAMBAN, June 20: The public of Ramban district has decried the non-availability of atta and sugar at the sale depots of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution for last many months. While speaking to a deputation of local women of Batote, Narinder Kour, District President (women wing) , Indian National Congress, Ramban castigated the coalition government of BJP and PDP of J&K in depriving the residents of Ramban district of atta and sugar from the CAPD stores. She alleged that the implementation of National Food Security Act, the brain child of the UPA regime, has done more harm than any good to the poor people than any good so far. Criticising the J&K government she said that poor families especially belonging to the BPL families were under debt to the local Kiryana shopkeepers as they have been borrowing the flour,rice and sugar from them for last many months. She has urged the state government to issue atta instead of the wheat to all the rationees even if they are charged 25 or 50 paise extra per Kg of atta as converting wheat into flour is no longer an easy job now a days since a person has to first wash,clean and dry the wheat and then take it to an electric grinder mill or a water mill which are almost extinct now days due to the poor availability of water in the nallahs or streams.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
