BJP Mandal Pardhan interferes development work 6/20/2016 11:49:04 PM Arun Trisal Early Times Report Kathua, June 20: One side Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi talks about development in agriculture sector and facilitate farmers in entire country including in J&K but few Bharatiya Janta Party leaders allegedly for their own benefits interfering development work meant to facilitate farmers in Sanji Morh tehsil Marheen District Kathua. Rakesh Choudhary Sarpanch Chak Nathal/Sanji Morh alleged BJP Mandal Pardhan Bhanu Parkash Gupta for interfering in such development work launched by Irrigation department for the cleanliness of several miles long distributaries for his own benefit. BJP leader used political power and stopped the cleanliness drive of distributaries in few months back, he alleged. Choudhary said the distributaries that was once 33 feet width from Chadwal to Banni village, now encroached and epitomized into just 5 feet width, that too unused and lack of proper cleanliness resulting overflow of water which spread in whole road and enters into houses, excess overflow of water sometimes damaged crops during harvesting season, he added. The villagers approached the concerned department and even raised the issue before district administration but when they felt helpless from all sides, they began to launch cleanliness / renovation drive of distributry themselves that too forcibly stopped by influential BJP leader. Choudhary said the distributry has been completely encroached and unused resulting poor production of crops. He added that encroachers built permanent structures/ temporary shops and covered for path to their land which should evocate to facilitate people in general than influential. When ET contacted Tehsildhar Marheen Jatinder Kumar, he informed that he personally reviewed the distributry and found that it is wholly encroached, blocked and damaged. The officer ensured to proceed with the matter to concern department and district administration for necessary actions.
