jammu June 20:Expressing concern over large scale irregularities and corruption in execution of centrally sponsored schemes allegedly by some officials of Rural Development Department in league with concerned sarpanchs and panchs in Tral block, the state vigilance commission (SVC) has summoned BDO, Tral. The SVC, while proceeding on a complaint lodged by the inhabitants of Pinglish, Tral, regarding large scale misappropriation of funds allocated under various centrally sponsored schemes allegedly by the officials of the concerned block in connivance with panchs and sarpanchs, resulting in unfair and arbitrary distribution of IAY funds, sought report from ACD, Pulwama. It was also alleged that nomenclature of works executed under MGNREGA had been changed dishonestly to favour influential and prominent persons of the village. The report submitted by ACD, Pulwama, prima-facie revealed that large scale irregularities had been committed by the officials of concerned block in distribution of IAY funds by conferring undue benefits on panches and sarpanches while ignoring the genuine ones, thereby frustrating the real objective of the scheme .The report further depicted gross violation of prescribed norms and guidelines in execution of works done under MGNREGA by the concerned officials in abuse of their official position. The SVC, taking a note of omissions and commissions on part of officials, summoned BDO, Tral, to appear before it on next date of hearing. |
