BJP doing lip service on refugees issue: Cong | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 20 :Blaming BJP for the present unrest amongst the refugees of different categories of 1947,1965 and 1971, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee today charged BJP with doing lip services to the refugees, as the party has failed to honour its commitments to these people made during the Lok Sabha and assembly elections. ''Even after over two years of BJP Govt at the centre, it has failed to sanction the most justified and genuine package of over 9000 crores forwarded by the state Govt as part of financial assistance to a vast population of refugees from PoK,'' JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma in a statement issued here said. He said the meagre amount of Rs 2000 crore kept in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's package for the state for the refugees has no clarity as there are other components clubbed in this category, while the BJP leaders and Ministers deliberately create confusion about the relief amount in order to keep the people in dark, while keeping them engaged in different unnecessary formalities. ''Government has all the details of the refuges since there migration and subsequent allotments of lands/quarters and pending claims etc but unreasonable instruction being issued in order to keep them engaged which is resulting into avoidable sufferings to them,'' said the JKPCC spokesperson. The BJP executive should have examined the poll promises of the party to these refuges of PoK and West Pakistan and should have explained the failure, U-turns and surrenders on various commitments for the sake sharing power. Sharma however, also blamed the BJP for the present on unrest amongst the refugees who are regularly holding protests and are struggling for there justified demands for one time settlement. |
