Early Times Report

Jammu, June 20: Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) today paid tributes to Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi on her 158th martyrdom, which was held at a function at SOS Home for mentally retarded children in Channi Rama as per past practice of the Association.
Lt. Col. Ranveer Singh Jamwal was chief guest whereas ARTO Mohammad Saleem Manhas, State President Shri Ram Sena Rajiv Mahajan and Dr. Akshay Sharma (BJP) were the guest of honors on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Lt. Col. Ranveer Singh Jamwal said that the martyrdom of Rani Lakshmibai in 1857 and others in the first war of freedom waged against the oppressive foreign rulers and East India Company represents a watershed in the history of India. Rani Lakshmibai by her valour and dedication to the mother land has inspired not only the future generations of the daughters but the entire populace of the country. Her contribution in making the first freedom war of 1857 was a very decisive event, which proved the precursor to the freedom struggle that lasted more than eight decades.
