Remote schools struggle for shortage of staff | | | Early Times Report Poonch, July 7: There is something unusual about the teachers at various government schools in remote areas of district Poonch as the majority of the schools situated in remote areas are facing shortage of teaching faculty or prevailing absenteeism is taking toll of studies of students. Locals from various areas of Poonch district demanded from Education Department to 'streamline' the posting of teaching staff at earliest to meet shortage and to put a check upon the prevalent unauthorized absenteeism in remote schools in the district. Many people of Poonch district said the teachers often remain absent from their duties without bothering the study of the students in remote areas. Social activist Javid Reshi said that people of Chela, Dhangri, Gagriyan, Loran, Sathra, Nangali Sahib, Bandi Chechyan, Jhulas, Mangnar and city Poonch have informed him that teachers in their localities are not enshouldering their duties resulting to which the studies of students is getting affected. He said many teachers from rural areas have shifted to city for better education prospects for their children on the other hand they have left future of many others in dark. While speaking to Early Times, he said many of them enjoying political/bureaucratic patronage many of the teachers don't attend their schools. He further said many KAS officers, lecturers and other politicians keep their teacher wives along with them where they perform their duties while many female teachers after getting married remains absent from their duties. Reshi said the education Minister Naiem Akhter should take this matter personally and sympathetically and be pleasure to the students of poor people. |
