Early Times Report

Jammu, July 7: Criticizing Union government has become a routine and favorite political stunt of political parties of Kashmir valley to gather sympathy of voters, especially in opposition and this has been once again exposed recently, when Centre was being criticized for plans to construct Sainik colonies in valley.
But it has been explicitly clear that Union government or Union Ministry of Home Affairs had not forwarded any proposal for construction of Sainik colonies in Kashmir valley.
In response to an RTI application filed by activist Raman Sharma of Jammu, the Chief Public Information Officer (CPIO) of Union Home Ministry SC Karol's reply reads as, "You have sought information under RTI Act 2005, regarding proposal forwarded by Ministry of Home Affairs to Government of J&K, if any, for construction of Housing Colony for retired/serving officers,./jawans of Indian Army or paramilitary forces of the Union government".
"In this regard, it is informed that no such proposal has been forwarded by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir", if further reads.
The Union government was criticized by National Conference and separatist camp for pursuing the agenda on Israel lines of making settlements and proposal of Sainik Colony was also criticized in this light.
"The proposal was finalized by Rajya Sainik Board in April 2015 when state was under Governor rule and former Chief Minister was also learnt to have chaired the meetings of the Board, so why Union government was criticized and band was also observed for the follies of the state government and its organizations", an official said. He further added that state government itself made plans and to befool Kashmiri general masses raked up some emotional issues, which would increase their vote share.
