Have BJP ministers gone into a state of seclusion? | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 7:Have BJP ministers gone into seclusion? Or is it they have maintained a deliberate distance from the party activities for a reason….? If their conspicuous absence from the party functions during the past few days is to be evaluated, it can be safely deciphered they have actually gone into hibernation. They have gone into this mode few days before the Assembly session concluded. Sources said even as the Assembly session is over, not all the ministers registered their presence in at least two important party functions at Jammu which was attended by party leaders from New Delhi. In the function organised in a big way on June 26 under the much publicized banner of SAVE DEMOCRARCY DAY, a couple of central leaders took out their time to attend it as this assumed political significance for the party, sources said adding that it was a day commemorated in negation of Emergency era and it was a sort of honour and esteem for those who were jailed during that period. However, some ministers made themselves conspicuous by their absence. Sources further said the ministers maintained distance from the office and one more important function on Wednesday July 6, which is yet another important day in terms of paying tributes to veteran Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Functions were organised both in the new office complex as also in the city office to observed this day besides district level activities in which no minister could make it, reinforcing the belief in the party circles that they have gone into hibernation, sources said. If on one hand at the government level it is the ministers who have adopted seclusion from party activities, at the party level it is office bearers have gone into silent mode, rather in a state of solitude contrary to his active and zealous participation in the party activities, sources said. They are not seen asserting on any front for some time nor imposing decisions anymore , sources said. They confirmed it is heavy doze of reprimand from the central leadership to a few ministers and to party key functionaries over a couple of matters has put them in tight spot. The central leadership has admonished both for not having been able to handle the politically important bills which no matter were the brain child of PDP, but went against the interests of BJP. Even though the ministers have conceded their blunder, it is the sense of guilt as also the realisation of increased resentment within the party circles that has made them stay aloof and calm, in so much that none of them have made any statements for over a week on any issue, sources said.
