BJP under severe attack for granting amnesty to traitors | Stone-pelting in Srinagar | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 7: The BJP is once against under severe attack and from all across the nation. This time for a different reason: Grant of amnesty to 634 traitor, who attacked the state police, the CRPF and the army during the 2010 summer in a most violent manner with a view to creating a situation that would help Pakistan and its Kashmir-based agents to get J&K "liberated" from India. The grant of amnesty to these traitors has been taken to mean by the nationalists a "concerted move" on the part of New Delhi to "appease secessionists in the Valley" and further complicate the already rather difficult situation in the Valley. They said the Union Government and the BJP-PDP Government in J&K took this decision at a time when the stone-pelting incidents in the Valley had already risen by 51 per cent and when the seditionists in the Valley had already intensified their break-India activities. What further added to the anger of the nation was what happened in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley after the devotees offered Eid prayers. After the prayer, stone pelters in their hundreds created an ugly scene by attacking police personnel. The incident resulted in the injury of scores of policemen and others, thus vindicating those across the nation, including Jammu, who had warned that the grant of amnesty to such hardcore secessionists would further aggravate the security situation in the state in general and the restive Kashmir Valley in particular. The point is that the nationalists across the country has unleashed a no-holds-barred campaign against the BJP-led NDA Government and accused it of "rewarding the traitors instead of bring them to book and eliminating the scourge of terror in the Valley and other parts of the state". Indeed, the grant of amnesty to the traitors has further dented the image of the BJP, nay the whole of the Sangh Parivar. |
