Rape accused denied bail | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 7: Third Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, Kishore Kumar has rejected the bail application of a rape accused. Rohit Sharma, son of Davinder Kumar Sharma of Rajpura was booked by police in an alleged rape case. He is alleged to have established physical relations with the victim against her will under the false promise of marrying her. He also allegedly used to call her to his house. According to the prosecution story, she had allegedly conceived twice and the accused had got her aborted in a private clinic at Toph Sherkhania. In the afternoon of May 12, 2015 also, the accused called her his home, while he was all alone there, and allegedly committed rape on her. Later, he threatened her not to come again to his home and also to get away from his life. Accordingly, she lodged a complaint against him at Bakshi Nagar police station on June 16, 2015. Taking cognizance of the complaint, police registered a case against him under sections 376, 420 and 506 of RPC . The judge, after hearing both the sides, observed that the accused person had resorted to such activities which demean the psychological development of a woman."The crime of rape is not only a crime against a woman but it is a crime against the whole society. And the act of rape is a continuous act which always pricks and injures the very soul and conscious of the victim atrocities against women are gaining momentum because of the liberal attitude of courts by granting bail in the serious offences committed against the women," he said. With these observations, the court rejected the bail application of the accused. —JNF |
