Early Times Report
jammu, July 14: The Amarnath Yatra was suspended today due to the damages of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, following heavy rains this morning which triggered mudslides on various places along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. This is the second time when Amarnath yatra has been suspended this year.
"Due to heavy rains, slush and mudslides triggered resulting damages to Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at landslides prone areas," a police official said.
"The authorities have suspended the Amarnath yatra from Jammu base camp, he said, adding, "the men and machines of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) are working to clear the debris from the highway to restore the normal traffic along NH -1A.'
Pertinently a batch comprising 2439 males, 700 women and 101 sadhus this afternoon left the base camp in a convoy of 93 vehicles including 19 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) on yesterday afternoon.
Earlier yatra was suspended for two days due to tension in valley after the elimination of most wanted Hizb Commnader Burhan Wani during an encounter on July 8.
