From civil secretariat, CM monitors Kashmir situation | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad
Srinagar, July 14: With no let up in improvement of situation in Kashmir valley, the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday kept monitoring moment to moment situation from the civil secretariat here. Sources told early times that on Thursday the Chief Minister arrived to the civil secretariat early in the morning and was being informed about the overall situation of the valley. "CM issued necessary instructions to Divisional administration and senior officers of police about handling the situation. The Chief Minister reviewed the situation personally till late at night," wishing anonymity one of the top officials of the CM secretariat told Early Times. He said that Chief Minister also held back to back meetings with top police and intelligence officials of the state to review the situation and directed that no harm should come to civilians while dealing with law and order issues. "CM also directed the police officials to pass the strict directions to the forces to strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure that civilians are not harmed. Incidents of clashes were reported from a number of places in Kashmir on Thursday even as curfew-like restrictions continued for the fifth day with mobile internet services being suspended in some areas in view of tension. Meanwhile sources said that surprisingly the coalition partner of PDP is missing on the ground and is not standing together with PDP at this crucial juncture. Sources said that most of the ministers of BJP have left the Kashmir valley. "This is the time when all of the ministers of coalition government should have remained present in the valley to chalk out the political strategy for the restoration of Peace, but the BJP ministers least bothered have left the valley," one of the PDP leaders wishing anonymity told early times. However sources said that the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, and PHE and Irrigation minister Sham Chowdhary reached the civil secretariat in afternoon. It is to mention here that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Mondayhad called on the people of Jammu and Kashmir to cooperate with the state government to end the cycle of violence. Interacting with the Civil Society members, she had said the state government is taking various measures to restore calm and it needs support of the people in this endeavour. "I appeal all sections of the society including the political leaders, media, the religious heads, the business community and the prominent citizens to rise to the occasion and help the government in restoring peace and normalcy in the Kashmir in the wake of the prevailing law and order situation". |
