JK Police likely to use 'Drone Cameras' to control Protests in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 14: To control the protests and increased stone pelting incidents in the Kashmir valley, the Jammu and Kashmir police is likely to make use of drone cameras in the Srinagar city and other towns of the valley. Kashmir valley is witnessing violent protests over the civilian killings since last Saturday. Police sources informed early times on Thursday that police is likely to use drone cameras to keep an eye on the agitation. "The cameras will keep an eye and capture the actual scene and anybody indulging in violence or behind can be identified," the police sources said while quoting top officials. Sources said that policemen posted in the different police stations are being trained to use drones, to control crowd. However the sources said that the final decision to deploy the UAVs will be taken by the top officials of the police. Sources said that fitted with high-resolution cameras, the drones will transmit real time pictures to the control room and same pictures would then be relayed to the police officers on the field. Notably, on Wednesday one of the police officer held demonstration of an unarmed drone in Srinagar's Lal Chowk area. The police officer opened a box near Ganta Ghar and started demonstrating of the unarmed drone. Sources said that from last couple of days the drone experts have explained details to the policemen about how to use the gadget. The police sources are claiming that with the help of the drones, police can identify the trouble mongers. "By deploying the UAVs, we can identify those who are behind the violence in the valley," the sources said. Kashmir is witnessing shutdown and protests against the civilian killings. At least 40 civilians has been killed so for. While 1500 civilians and around 100 security forces were injured in the ongoing unrest. It is to mention here that earlier in the year the police had used drones in the capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu to decongest the traffic on city roads. |
