Let NC & Congress stop deriving sadistic pleasure out of Kashmir turmoil | | | While Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti have appealed for peace in Kashmir and have suggested to the security forces to observer restraint so that there was no extra bloodshed, National Conference Working President, Omar Abdullah has accused the state Government of ferrying civilians in police vans and vehicles to the Martyrs grave in order to show that normalcy has been restored to Kashmir. As a responsible leader of a responsible party, oldest in the state, Omar was not supposed to cast expressions on the working of the coalition Government. He has been chief Minister for six years and how many times he has played the same trick that he has alleged the PDP played on Martyr's day. Whenever Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister presided over the Independence day function in Srinagar did not his Government pooled all the resources at its command to motivate people to attend the official function. Whenever Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi visited Kashmir did not Omar use his official machinery for bringing people to attend a public rally that was to be addressed by the top Congress leaders. Which side is the be blamed for the current turmoil in which over 34 lives have been lost and over 1400 injured, including 200 police personnel, is not as import ant as the reason for the explosive situation that has been witnessed by people in the valley. Well scores of militants, including field commanders and regional commander have been killed in the past but there was no violence on the pattern one has witnessed during the last four days. Yes, if during five summer months of 2010 Kashmir sizzled with furious protests they were the outcome of killing of two innocent boys. And more protests resulted in more clashes which was followed by more death and in all 120 people were killed. And unfortunately Omar Abdullah went into hibernation because he did not know how to handle the situation. And the same Omar Abdullah is blaming Mehbooba for having retired into her nest as he had done in 2010.But Mehbooba has been visible making frantic appeals for peace. In her Martyr's day message she has urged people to maintain peace which could be the best tribute to those who had lost their lives in 1931 considered to be the first war for liberation. One should not blame only the separatists for stoking fire in Kashmir. Other mainstream political parties are to be blamed for not doing anything to restore peace to Kashmir. Omar could have played a vital like as leader of the National Conference and so could have done the congress leaders from the state. But the politicians belonging to the two parties have been deriving sadistic pleasure out of Mehbooba's discomfiture. And common people have suffered severe losses in the way when several thousand tourists who were enjoying their stay in Kashmir have started leaving the valley in disgust after cutting short their stay. Though the pilgrimage to Amarnath cave has been resumed from Tuesday but the tales of discomfort some yatris faced on way from Pahalgam to Jammu could lave a bad impact on the flow of pilgrims. Since over three lakh pilgrims were registered for the yatra it could be a heavy financial loss to traders, transporters, porters and ponywallas and hoteliers. There has been loit of tear shedding and bloodshed over the killing of Burhan Wani and it is time for people to maintain peace which was mandatory for development. |
