Jammu, July 20: The Crime Branch (CB) of state police has registered a case against a PWD junior engineer for allegedly preparing a fake message of the deputy chief minister to influence senior officers for his transfer. JE Som Nath Sharma is alleged to have prepared and faxed a fake and fraudulent message of deputy CM to get himself transferred by influencing senior officers. A communication No SEU/camp/2016-17/2810-12 dated July 15, 2016, made by A K Gandotra, Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B), Reasi-Udhampur circle, another communication No 1245 dated July 5, 2016 of Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) division, Udhampur, and a photocopy of the alleged message were received by CB, wherein it was stated that the executive engineer had received a fax message in his office purportedly signed by the deputy CM regarding transfer and posting of Som Nath from PWD (R&B) division, Udhampur, to sub-division, Majalta. However, on verification, it was found that no such message had been issued or faxed by the deputy CM. During investigation, CB found that deputy CM's fake and fraudulent message was prepared and faxed by the JE to get himself transferred by influencing the senior officers. The omissions and commissions on the part of the JE prima facie constitute offences punishable under sections 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 of RPC. Accordingly, a formal case was registered against him by CB, police sources said. (JNF) |
