Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 20: With the premature transfer of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam, Government seems to be adopting different yardsticks while dealing with Government officers.
SSP Budgam Fayaz Ahmad Lone, is known for his dedication and uprightness , but in-spite of all this he was made a scapegoat few days back when the blame of media gag was thrust upon him. It is known from the sources that some top people in the Government had directed him to seize copies of newspapers from a leading newspaper office / printing press. When the Government machinery succumbed under pressure over this act, poor SSP became a soft target.
It is a known fact that Budgam district remained the most peaceful district in the ongoing protests and not even a single case of loot, arson, or casualty was reported from this district. It is also a known fact that SSP Budgam Fayaz Ahmad Lone has been meeting with large delegations of people from over last one year and people from Khag to Pakherpora have been appreciating the said initiative. Sources say that SSP went from village to village meeting youth and school children. Under civil action programme, the officer has distributed thousands of books, school bags and stationery in remotest areas of Budgam like Watrehail, Lassipora, Jabad, Breanwar etc. He has been actively involved in environmental awareness programmes as well across district. Due to his intelligence and activeness Fayaz Ahmad Lone was selected as a commander of UN peace keeping forces few years back in Dilli which was earlier part of Indonesia. But authorities hardly kept these things into consideration and punished him for none of his fault by posting him in an unimportant organisation (Auxiliary Police)
On contrary to this several Head of the Departments like Managing Directors (MDs) of some public sector undertakings have been involved in loot and plunder of state exchequer and inspite of having several cases of corruption pending against them, Govt hardly has taken any action against these officers.
Early Times had filed several reports against Dileep Thusoo, the MD of J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC). The said officer faces several graft charges and in-spite of all that he was again appointed as MD JKPCC last year. Recently the said MD allotted a bridge work in Ganderbal district to his hot favorite contractor without inviting tenders, but Govt hardly initiated against him. Similarly Minister In-charge of Industries & Commerce is yet to initiate action against the Managing Director (MD) of J&K Handicrafts Corporation in-spite of the fact that he provided false information to state legislature during recent session of state assembly. The MD JKHC had shown utmost disrespect to state legislature, by providing misleading and incorrect information to state assembly about the appointments made by the corporation from last three years.
