'We are prostitutes used by politicians, media persons enjoy our Kabab’s' | Police official spills beans on social media | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 20: Amid growing dissent among police officials against state government's "cold response" to their efforts for restoration of law and order in restive Kashmir, a young police official on Wednesday allegedly spilled the beans saying cops were being used like "prostitutes by politicians." On his social media account on Facebook the official said if no one needs police, it was high time for the government to disband the department. The cop this morning posted a message titled: "If nobody needs us disband this institution." He said it feels like "we are prostitutes used by politicians." "And ppl who use abuses at us on the name of Islam when we hear Azan in the back ground have become judges Sometimes it feels like we are prostitutes used by politicians," official said in his post. In his long post, he said: "The doctors refuse to treat us. The society has branded us as traitors. Judiciary humiliates us at every step." Taking a dig at media in Kashmir he said "Media enjoys our Kabab’s and when digested shits on us." The official, however, said there was still some hope. "But still feel proud when an elderly lady whom we might have helped some day comes to u and says 'fikir ma bar, dastgheer chu che seith'," he said. His post was shared by many of the who's who of Kashmir making his statement go viral on the social media. Sources said the police official was emotional as the government plans to book him on charges of "cold blooded" murder of a youth in Batamaloo locality on July 10. "There's likelihood that he will be booked under section 302, so he is a bit emotional and wants to plead his innocence," said an official. The police officials believe that the ruling coalition was unduly targeting them even as the cops have been risking their lives to restore law and order in the Valley marred by violence since July 8 when militant commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani was killed. On July 18, SSP Budgam Fayaz Ahmed Lone was transferred on alleged charges of having raided media houses in his district. Even though the government spokesman Naeem Akhter had formally owned the responsibility of imposing three-day media gag in Kashmir, the government subsequently backtracked from its statement saying it could be handiwork of police. On July 19, senior PDP leader and Member Parliament Muzaffar Hussain Beg said some police officers "betrayed" Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. While reacting to a question, on New Delhi-based news channels on a Kashmir debate, as to why he had called for an inquiry into the civilian killings in Kashmir and the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani, Baig said some police officers "betrayed" the Chief Minister. Baig also stated that excessive force was used by government forces on civilians across Kashmir, lead to high number of casualties. "Clearly excessive force was used. That is evident from the fact that you had 2000 injuries in one single day," he said. |
