Pak Army Chief's political ambitions | | | It is amazing that the Army Chief in Pakistan makes a political statement when the country has an elected Government which believes in democracy. It seems that the Pakistan Army Chief, Gen Raheel Sharif has forgotten that the country has a president and an elected Prime Minister and that Pakistan is not under the Army rule. He knows it fully well but seems to bypass his powers and responsibility by berating India for allegedly supporting terror in Pakistan. Well he claims that the world knows it but the world knows it fully well that Pakistan has been exporting terror to India, including its state of Jammu and Kashmir for the last over 26 years. Still he has the guts to blame India for what is happening in Baluchistan or Karachi or in other parts of the country. Pakistan army chief General Raheel Sharif has said that Pakistan was "ready to pay any price to protect our nationhood, safeguard interest, be it Kashmir, development of new ports or exploitation of natural resources", the army in a statement quoted him as saying. He accused India of "creating instability" through ceasefire violations and supporting militancy in different areas of the country. In a veiled attack on India he said, "The entire world endorses our security concerns". Ceasefire violation, blood-letting in Balochistan, Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Karachi Not manifest enemy's hostile intent," he said, without naming India. "Pakistan has shown willingness to cooperate with other nations for peace but not at the expense of our national interests, sovereign rights and national pride," he said while addressing the Naval Academy passing out parade. Sharif said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPCEC) holds enormous potential for transforming lives of region's people. He said Pakistan was "acutely aware of enemy campaigns and will defeat designs against it (CPEC). He claims that the entire world endorses "our security concerns" when many nations including super powers endorse Pakistan's involvement in various terrorist strikes in India, including Jammu and Kashmir. Not only this the world has endorsed that Pakistan has become a haven for various terrorist organisations. What is important is the way Pakistan has been supporting the terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan. What a white lie when Gen. Sharif blames India for ceasefire violations. Indian troops have no need for violating the ceasefire because they have not to support infiltration. Against this Pakistani Army have every reason to indulge in ceasefire violations because under the exchange of fire infiltrators find a route for sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir. Despite rise in Pakistan supported terrorist strikes New Delhi has not choked the channels of dialogue which indicates that India is willing to buy peace with Pakistan. But since the Army in Pakistan bank on the Chinese support, both military and economic aid-wise, Islamabad does not pay much interest in buying peace with New Delhi. However, Nawaz Sharif should read Gen. Sharif's statement between the lines and prepare himself for getting unseated militarily as was done by Gen. Parvez Musharraf years ago. And for Nawaz Sharif the only way to ensure his political survival was to promote cordial ties with India. |
