Rotary Club to upgrade 21 schools for 'e-learning scheme'

Rajouri, July 20: In order to avoid delay and to connect the students of government schools with e-learning Technology at the earliest, Ch Altaf Hussain, Chief Education Officer, Rajouri has approached the officials of the Rotary International for providing the necessary material including computers, projectors, display screens etc so that e-learning Technology can be introduced in the district.
According to official sources Rajouri Rotary Club Officials have agreed to provide necessary material for the introduction of e-learning Technology in 21 government schools. Confirming the reports Ch Altaf Hussain, CEO Rajouri said, "Rotary International has already placed the order for the material and it was hoped that within a month time the material will be installed in the schools identified by the department where the department hopefully shall ensure the power supply at these schools.
CEO added that in the first phase 20 schools in the district have been identified by the Education department which will be connected with Information Communication Technology (ICT) enabled under J&K government scheme.
"The material under this scheme has already reached at Rajouri and soon will be installed in the schools," he said and added that the scheme will be provided to only those schools where the electricity is available. Pertinently Government of India under RMSA has approved smart classrooms with computer laboratories for 220 schools in J&K o under the ICT in school scheme.
According to govt orders as far as Vocational Education (VE) is concerned, Union Government has approved 132 schools in J&K for the introduction of vocational education with two trades per school out of four trades, including information Technology (IT), tourism, health care & retail.
Here it needs to mention that about 50 government high/higher secondary schools in the district yet have not been electrified. "In order to connect these schools with e-learning Technology, the department has approached the J&K Bank Officials at Rajouri for the installation of Solar Supply Panels with UPS of 1 KVA under Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme" said CEO. He further said that the Bank officials have agreed to provide Solar Supply Panels/UPSs to 25 schools in the first stage and for that they had already placed the order with Unique Enterprises ,Jammu. Ironically In the month of December last State Government had decided to set up smart classrooms in about 220 schools and vocational Education in 132 schools despite deadline by the end of March 2016 the schem yet has not seen light.
