HC directs CS on plea of 2009 batch KAS officers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 20: The J&K High Court has directed Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretary GAD, Finance and Home and JKPSC to accord consideration to the representation of the petitioners and take appropriate decision and inform the court with regard to the grant of Old Pension Scheme benefited to 131 junior scale KAS officers. According to press release, issued by advocate Ashok Sharma it has been maintained that petitioners had claimed before JK High Court Justice Janak Raj Kotawal that the notification for selection to Jr. KAS was issued in December 2008 for conduct of exam and the selection and appointment was made in 2011, consuming more than two years and by the time new pension scheme was introudcted. In the ordinary course, such selection should consume not more than one year and the petitioners could not be held responsible for inordinate delay. "As many as six persons of the same batch including daughter of the then GAD Commissioner Secretary have been given the benefit of OPS besides 11 candidates of 2010 batch, discriminating among equals", he said. The HC issued four weeks' notice to the official respondents only and meanwhile subject to objections respondents have been directed to accord consideration to the representation of the petitioners at their level and take appropriate steps with the applicable rules. |
