Farmers fair on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana Inaugurated | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 12: Krishi Vigan Kendra (KVK) Jammu under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST) organized Awareness-cum Farmers Fair on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana at KVK Campus R.S.pura. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is the flagship programme of Modi government. Under the new scheme, the premium paid by farmers had been reduced to 2% of the insured value for the more rain-dependent Kharif crop and 1.5% for the Rabi season, compared with 3.5-8% charged for the two earlier schemes National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and Modified National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (MNAIS). In the case of horticultural crops, farmers' premium burden will be 5% of the sum assured or 50% of the total premium. Member Parliament stressed upon the farmers to take maximum benefits from the schemes launched by government and urged the field department to prepare a roadmap to cover maximum farmers under these schemes. On the occasion, Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman State Advisory Board for the Welfare of Kisans of J&K said that they are committed to give maximum benefits to the farming community of the state. He further advised farmers to take this scheme to the fullest so that the risks involved in farming may be reduced. Gagan Bhagat, MLA R.S. Pura highlighted the difficulties being faced by the farmers of the border constituency. He congratulated Krishi Vigan Kendra Jammu for holding this awareness programme so that the famers can reap the benefits. |
