kishtwar, Sept 12: Security has been stepped up in the town here and its peripheral areas ahead of the eid celebrations tomorrow. To instil confidence among peace lovers and send a warning to miscreants, personnel of police, CRPF, JKAP, IRP and SSB today marched through the roads of the town. While the cops marched, SSP, Kishtwar, and senior officers of other law-enforcing agencies remained present on the roads. The need to step up security and carry out a march was felt in wake of a protest call given by the Majlis-e-Shora, Kishtwar, headed by Imam, Jamia Masjid, Kishtwar. The DC and the SSP also held a security meeting at Kishtwar to chalked out the strategy to keep the situation under control and keep the miscreants at bay. They also held a detailed meeting with the magistrates assigned with key duties. The civil and police administration have divided Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas into small zones to deal with law and order problem. In addition to the cops, army had also been asked by the government to remain on standby in case the administration required their services to deal with any law and order situation. Meanwhile, police had strengthened security around eidgah and at key points. To enter eidgah, only a few entry points would be kept open. People had also been asked not to enter the eidgah area in vehicles.
