2,100 kg polythene seized at Nagri | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Sept 12: Foiling a smuggling bid, the Excise Department sleuths have seized 2,100 kilograms of polythene, which was loaded in two trucks, from the Nagri toll post. The trucks (HR69A/5605 and HR69A/5604) reported at the toll post for clearance on Sunday and Monday. As per the documents, the vehicle were carrying rice bags of FCI loaded through the office of area manager, FCI, Gurdaspur, vide challan No 38, book No 497 and challan No 44, book No 497 respectively, official sources said. However, when these trucks were subjected to physical checking, it was found that of 64 bags of polythene were concealed beneath rice bags in both the trucks. The trucks and the polythene were then seized and handed over to the pollution control board for further action under relevant rules. The whole operation was conducted by ETO Farooq Choudhary, Excise Inspectors - Deepak and Ashok Khajuria, SI Khursheed Farooqi and excise guard Ranjit Singh. |
