Eid ul Zuha celebrations upset by militants, & Pak Army
9/13/2016 12:08:14 AM
As people were supposed to in
dulge in revelry in connection
with the Eid ul Zuha festival one had not expect that Pakistani Army, militants and separatists could continue with their game of sabotage and subterfuge. Alas! during the festival days Kashmir witnessed killings and injuries. Apart from three civilians getting killed in south Kashmir during clashes with the security forces militants too staged a dance of death and in return four militants were killed. Had these four militants would have not been eliminated there was a big possibility of damage to the Indian border posts in Poonch sector. Following latest alert sounded for the Indian tropops, guarding the border, these vert troops monitored movement of some infiltrators who were assigned the task of attacking the Army convoy and the camps. The Army on Sunday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Nawgam sector of Kashmir, killing four militants. Alert soldiers posted along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nawgam sector noticed some suspicious movement and challenged the intruders.
The militants opened fire at the positions of security forces which was "effectively retaliated", triggering a gun battle Four militants were killed and a war-like store was recovered from the scene of the gun battle, This indicates that the infiltrators were equipped with sophisticated weapons and ammunition besides explosives which they were to use against Army camps and convoys and during the clashes between the civilians and security forces. A policeman was killed, while two others, including a police Sub-Inspector and a civilian, were injured in an ongoing gunfight between security forces and militants near Army's Brigade headquarters in Poonch town of Jammu province. The attack took place around 7.30 am on Sunday. According to police sources, the armed militants were hiding in an old house, located about 50 meters away from the office of Superintendent of Police (SP), Poonch. The Army's Poonch Brigade headquarters is located just 300 meters away from the spot.A selection-grade constable of the Jammu and Kashmir CID wing, after having inputs about the presence of militants, went close to the house. The militants opened fire on him, killing him on the spot, Immediately after the incident, Army and police personnel cordoned off the area and sealed all the escape routes. The militants, believed to be two to three in number, are now holed up in an under-construction Mini-Secretariat building. The Army and police have jointly requisitioned the help of commandos and an intense gunfight is on," the sources said. The slain constable was identified as Raju, while the injured Sub-Inspector was identified as Manzoor Hussain. The identity of the injured civilian is yet to be ascertained. (With inputs from DK Sudan in Poonch Imagine Manzoor Hussain may not be able to celebfrate Eid ul Zuha and this not the problem for militants or for Pak troops or for separatists. One had expected separatists to give a call for ending shutdowns and violence. But they have not done so because peace is their enemy.
