Action against protesting employees soon; list sent to GAD | Valley unrest | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 7: After stone-pelters and separatists, the state government is all set to crack a whip on its employees who have participated in anti-India protests during the ongoing turmoil in the Valley. Government sources revealed that since the unrest began on July 8, dozens of government employees were found active in protests and disturbing the law and order. Though there were cases registered in various police stations, it was only after initial investigation found that some among the trouble mongers are government employees. "So far around 200 employees have been identified. The higher authorities have already been appraised about the situation and very soon we will come up with concrete action plan against them," said a senior official pleading anonymity. Furthermore, he said, several government employees are also involved directly in stone pelting incidents. There are others who have been found in contact with the separatist elements in Valley. As the list of these anti-national employees has been sent to the GAD, necessary action would be taken against the erring employees as per the rules. A senior police official said these employees would be soon arrested and booked for disrupting law and order. "The employees will be first detained, and as per rules if a government employee spends more than 24 hours in police custody, he must be suspended from the service," said sources. "There are high chances that these employees will be terminated from their services," they said. IGP Kashmir Javaid Gilani on Friday stated that police is in possession of details of those who have been vitiating peace and instigating people to protest. Gilani said that police will go after the trouble mongers wherever they try to hide. Police have so far arrested around 7000 persons and booked most of them under Public Safety Act. |
